Method & formula
The calculator treats each input as an ISO calendar date with no time zone. It reports an absolute calendar-balanced duration in years, months and days, plus exact total elapsed days. Direction tells you whether the end date is later, earlier or the same.
- Calendar duration = earlier date until later date, balanced to years/months/days
- Total days = exact ISO calendar day difference
Example
From 31 January 2024 to 3 March 2025, the result is balanced using calendar months rather than dividing elapsed milliseconds by fixed month lengths.
