Base64 Encoder & Decoder
Encode or decode UTF-8 text, binary files, Base64url and Base64 Data URIs. Paste, choose or drop a file and keep the whole workflow in your browser.
BASE64 WORKBENCH
Encode or decode text and files
UTF-8, binary files, Base64url and Data URIs in one private browser-local workflow.
Any file up to 25 MB. The file stays in this browser.
Ready.
Text, files and Base64url
Text is encoded as UTF-8, so accented letters and other Unicode characters remain intact. File mode works with the original bytes. URL-safe mode uses the Base64url alphabet and can omit trailing padding where the surrounding protocol permits it.
Auto-detection without aggressive guessing
When you use Paste, PBT can recognise clear Base64 and Base64url signals and switch to Decode. The detector is deliberately conservative so ordinary short text is not routinely reclassified as encoded data.
Data URIs and binary-safe decoding
Data URI mode can wrap standard Base64 with a media type for browser and CSS workflows. PBT can also recognise a pasted Base64 Data URI. If decoded bytes are not valid UTF-8, they stay binary and are offered as a download instead of being corrupted into text.
Privacy
Your text or file stays in the browser while the tool is running. Drag-and-drop and file selection use the same local processing path; PBT does not need to upload the source.
Frequently asked questions
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 changes the representation of data; it does not make the data secret or protect access to it.
Can I encode images and PDFs?
Yes. File mode accepts any file within the tool’s 25 MB local processing limit.
What is URL-safe Base64?
It replaces the standard plus and slash characters with URL-friendlier alternatives. Some protocols also omit trailing padding.
