JSON Formatter & Validator
Format, validate, minify, repair or sort JSON, then inspect paths, search values or compare two structures without uploading the data.
JSON WORKBENCH
Format, validate, repair and inspect JSON
Format first, then inspect paths, search values or compare structures. Your data stays in this browser.
Ready. Ctrl/Cmd + Enter formats JSON.
Type to search the current valid JSON.
Added, removed and changed paths appear below.
One workbench for common JSON jobs
Use the same editor to make JSON readable, minify it, check syntax, repair common mistakes or sort object keys. Whenever PBT changes the content, it parses the result again before treating it as valid JSON.
Inspect the structure instead of reading raw text
Once the JSON is valid, the Inspector builds path-aware tree entries. Search checks both paths and compact value previews, which makes deeply nested fields easier to find without sending the document to a remote debugger.
Compare JSON structurally
Diff mode compares objects and arrays by JSON path and reports added, removed and changed values. The comparison is structural rather than a line-based text diff, so formatting differences do not create noise.
What validation checks
The validator follows JSON syntax, not the looser rules of JavaScript object literals. It catches invalid commas, quotation marks, escapes and broken structure. When the browser exposes an error position, PBT also reports the relevant line and column.
Privacy and files
Pasted JSON, comparison JSON and opened files stay in the browser. The 10 MB file limit keeps local processing manageable; it is not an upload limit.
Frequently asked questions
Can it repair broken JSON?
Yes. Repair mode handles common malformed patterns, then validates the repaired version before showing it as a result.
Does Sort keys reorder arrays?
No. It sorts object keys recursively but keeps array items in their original order.
Is the diff line-based?
No. It compares parsed JSON values by structural path, so whitespace and indentation do not count as changes.
