How it works
PBT reads the file in your browser, checks that it fits the local processing limits and converts it in the direction you choose. CSV input can use comma, semicolon, tab or pipe delimiters, with automatic detection available for CSV to JSON. JSON to CSV expects an array of records and writes a deterministic header row from the record keys.
Example
A CSV file with the columns name, email and two data rows becomes a JSON array with two objects. In the other direction, a JSON array such as [{"name":"Ada","email":"ada@example.com"}] becomes a CSV file with a name, email header and one data row.
Frequently asked questions
Can it detect semicolon-separated CSV files?
Yes. Auto detect checks the supported delimiters and reports the delimiter used in the result summary.
What JSON shape can be converted to CSV?
The converter expects a JSON array of records. Invalid JSON or incompatible structures fail closed instead of being silently repaired.
Are uploaded files stored?
No. Conversion runs in the browser and the generated file is offered as a temporary local download.
Standards and references
The CSV handling follows the common conventions described by RFC 4180. JSON parsing follows the format defined by RFC 8259.
Privacy
Your file contents and filename stay on your device during conversion. PBT rejects malformed or structurally inconsistent input rather than quietly guessing how it should be repaired, so review the output before using it for important data.
