Method & formula
Expected revenue is divided by target ROAS to calculate one ceiling and multiplied by contribution margin to calculate the break-even ceiling. The lower amount is the binding limit under both constraints.
- Target-ROAS ceiling = expected revenue / target ROAS
- Break-even ceiling = expected revenue x contribution margin
Example
50,000 revenue at a 4 x target ROAS allows 12,500 spend, while a 35% contribution margin allows 17,500 at break-even. The 12,500 ROAS ceiling binds first.
