PALLAS / CONVERTER
Universal Unit Converter
Convert across 19 measurement categories with explicit dimensions, high-precision decimal arithmetic and standards-backed factors. Currency is deliberately excluded because it requires live governed rates.

Method & formula
Each unit belongs to one explicit physical or information dimension. Linear units convert through a canonical base value; Celsius, kelvin, Fahrenheit and Rankine use separate affine transformations. The engine refuses cross-dimension conversion.
- Linear conversion: output = input × source factor ÷ target factor
- Temperature conversion: convert to kelvin with the unit-specific affine rule, then convert from kelvin
Example
1 mile converts to exactly 1,609.344 metres before display rounding. A temperature conversion such as 32 °F to °C uses an affine rule rather than a multiplicative factor.

FAQ
Why do I choose a measurement category?
It prevents ambiguous aliases and makes cross-dimension conversion impossible. A unit name is interpreted only inside the category you selected.
Does the converter include currency?
No. Currency values change over time and require a separately governed live-rate source, so they are not mixed into a deterministic unit converter.
Are conversion factors rounded before calculation?
No. Exact decimal factors are kept as decimal strings where standards define them exactly; display rounding is applied only to the presented result.
